What is black carbon?
Activated charcoal powder adsorbs a thousand times its own mass in harmful substances, which makes it a popular ingredient in facial masks. The natural carbon quickly absorbs oil, impurities and dead skin cells from deep within pores and pulls toxins to the surface.
It provides an immediate soothing and skin brightening effect and removes the activated charcoal treatment from the face to eliminate the contaminants absorbed by the carbon. It helps to purify, hydrate and reconstruct damaged skin.

The majority of patients feel minimal to no discomfort during a normal laser facial or laser acne scar treatment. We recommend a minimum of 2 treatments. For tattoo removal we can assess the area and advise how many sessions would be needed.

What is PicoSure laser good for?

What do I do after a laser facial treatment?
- Gently apply a thin layer of moisturiser all over the skin multiple times throughout the day, as needed. After that you’ll be able to go back to your regular skincare routine once the peeling process is complete and skin no longer feels sensitive – generally within a week of receiving your facial treatment.
- Do not pick at your skin. In other words, picking off the dry skin before it heals can lead to scarring and extra redness.
- Using sunscreen is critical to protect skin from the sun at any time, but especially after a PicoSure Black Carbon Laser Facial. Not doing so can lead to blotchy patches and irregular skin colouring. An SPF of 30 or higher is recommended and should be applied about a half an hour before going outdoors.
- Keeping skin clean is very important. For instance, the best option is to wash with cool water and a mild soap.
- Apply moisturiser. Along with regular washing, keeping the skin moisturised is also essential. Apply a fragrance-free, dye-free, gentle moisturiser right after washing it – every time! It’s also important to avoid putting on too much moisturiser, because dry surface layers may not flake off properly.
- It can be tempting to exfoliate. After all, there’s skin peeling or flaking and it appears that it wants to be removed. The truth is that exfoliating can remove the skin before it is ready. However, this can lead to inadequate results and even scarring.
- Staying hydrated. Most importantly is keeping your skin hydrated. Above all, drink plenty of water every day of your life.
